Leon R. Kass is the President of the National Academy of Sciences. He was formerly the Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Chicago, where he was also a professor in the departments of Experimental Psychology and Health Policy, Finances, and Management. He is also an Honorary Professor at Uppsala University in Sweden
His research interests include bioethics, health policy, medical informatics, public health law, and population ethics. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Research on Economics and the Environment, as well as of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and as a trustee of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
